The Wind 40 DB C19 Disc Center Lock Wheelset from Fulcrum: Synonymous with aerodynamics and versatility
The Wind 40 DB C19 Disc Center Lock wheelset by Fulcrum is built with layers of modern unidirectional carbon fibre. The 40 mm wheel height of makes for a wide and light rim with a pronounced flange (8 mm radius)–an innovative design that forms a single unit with the tyre, allowing air currents affecting the rotating wheel to circulate more easily and thus avoiding turbulence. A 40 mm rim depth offers further versatility: this height is popular with many cyclists looking for a balanced, rigid, agile and precise wheel. The wheel system has CNC machined aluminium hubs on which the 24 straight pull spokes are mounted.

Tubeless technology was first used in the automotive sector, then in motorcycles and finally in bicycles. After entering the MTB world, the time has come for their use on the road: Fulcrum has developed the 2-Way Fit™ technology to guarantee the perfect compatibility of Fulcrum tubeless rims even with normal clincher tyres with tubes. 2-Way Fit™ wheels are particularly versatile and therefore perfectly suited to every situation. Thanks to a special marking in the valve area, the tubes are mounted with high precision and the tube remains firmly stabilized in the clincher tyre. The valve for tubeless tyres can also be used safely. This offers the undeniable advantage that air can never penetrate during assembly due to inaccurate positioning.
The advantages are undisputed: tests have shown an incomparably high increase in smoothness. The absence of a tube prevents friction with the tyre and the perfect adhesion of the tyre to the rim prevents energy loss. A tubeless tyre cannot lose air abruptly through a hole and suddenly become flat, which is a clear safety advantage. There is also no danger of snake bites, as there is no tube that can be punctured.
What about a flat tyre? Don’t worry! One of the advantages of the Fulcrum 2-Way Fit™ system is the possibility of removing the tubeless valve and inserting a normal tube to get you home.
AFS Axle System™
The Axial Fixing System is the solution developed by Fulcrum to mount the disc rotor to the hub. The connection provided by the stop surface of the mount is greater than that of the already known standards, allowing greater structural rigidity and therefore more precise and efficient braking.
Mo-Mag™
After the nipples have been inserted into the rim via the valve opening during lacing, they are guided by a magnet to the point of connection with the rim.
With this simple and ingenious system, you get a wheel with no holes on the upper rim, but with conventional nipples for lacing!
2:1 Two-to-One™
At the moment when the rider pedals at full power, the rotation of the cassette causes the spokes on the freehub side to give way, resulting in a loss of rim tension. This causes excessive bending of the whole and this inevitably means a loss of energy. Fulcrum has solved this classic problem in cycling with its 2:1 Two-to-One Spoke Ratio patent, that is, with twice the number of spokes in critical areas. In this way, two spokes take over the task of one, the yielding and twisting of the wheel remains low and the transmission of the athlete’s energy becomes much more efficient. Thanks to this patent, the spoke tensions are more balanced and the fatigue strength of rim, hub and spokes is much higher.
