The Mavic Ksyrium S Wheelset – Attractive entry-level model
The Mavic Ksyrium S is a rim brake-compatible wheelset for road bike beginners, which impresses with a good stiffness-to-weight ratio, durability and an attractive finish. It is based on 19 mm wide aluminium rims that can be ridden without a tube. This results in advantages such as greater puncture resistance, less rolling resistance and weight savings. At the centre of the wheels are hubs with self-aligning bearings and optimised spoke holes, fitted with 18 and 24 double butted straight pull spokes at the front and rear respectively. Special rim bed technology eliminates the need for tubeless rim tape.

Made exclusively for Mavic, this lightweight and strong aluminium alloy offers a higher strength-to-weight ratio than standard 6106 aluminium. Maxtal rims are 30% stiffer and weigh less than other aluminium rims.
UB Control
UB Control stands for Usiné Brut Control. Brake tracks that are stripped afterwards ensure better braking efficiency and prevent unpleasant brake jerking.
SUP
SUP means Soudé Usiné Process and creates a much more stable and smoother rim joint. The rim joint is welded and then milled over to achieve an even braking surface. SUP prevents any brake judder and facilitates spoking and centring of the wheel.
Infinity Hub Design
Infinity hubs from Mavic allow contactless lacing, which prevents noise development under load. At the same time, this design is lighter, stiffer and easier to maintain. Often you only need one spoke length per wheel set, so that an optimal spare parts supply is given.
QRM Auto
QRM Auto stands for Qualité de Roulements Mavic Auto, and is the latest bearing innovation from Mavic. These cartridge bearings with C3 internal clearance are double sealed. Their bearing clearance is automatically adjusted to guarantee smooth running without any play at all times.
Instant Drive 360
The Instant Drive 360 freehub system is super light and ensures a fast power connection with an engagement angle of only 9° (road) or 15° (MTB). A large, non-contact rubber seal reduces friction.
Isopulse (Rear)
This special lacing (right radial, left double-crossed) increases the stability of the wheels and ensures optimal power transmission – thanks to more even spoke tension on the left and right hub flange. Isopulse means higher stiffness under heavy load, resulting in immediate power transmission. Also, sturdier wheels have lower maintenance requirements.
Fore Tapeless Tubeless
Instead of drilling a conventional rim hole, the inner rim base is pressed inwards in one operation and provided with a thread into which the nipples are screwed directly. The outer rim base remains intact. This results in a stiffer and stronger wheel that means rim tape can be omitted, which also translates to weight savings.
