ZIPP 808 Firecrest® Carbon Tubeless Center Lock Disc Wheelset

The Zipp 808 Firecrest® Carbon Tubeless Center Lock Disc wheelset has an 82 mm high, a disc brake-compatible rim that is both fast and side wind stable thanks to its special structure, and can be ridden tubeless, which allows for lower tyre pressure and thus more cornering grip.

Through the pioneering use of software to analyse numerical fluid mechanics and the power of a supercomputer, Zipp is able to understand exactly what makes wheels go fast. Zipp then tests the most promising rim shapes in the wind tunnel and on the road. This process led to the creation of Firecrest rim technology, which allows the wheel’s airflow and centre of gravity to be controlled more effectively, resulting in better aerodynamics, better handling in crosswinds and an overall better cycling experience.

ABLC SawTooth™
This patented rim shape achieves what conventional aero wheels cannot: it simultaneously reduces aerodynamic drag and lateral wind forces, providing the ultimate AeroBalance™. In addition, the ABLC recesses ensure improved air flow. The result is lower aerodynamic drag and reduced lateral wind forces at any angle of attack. This is important because the steeper the wind angle, the larger the influence on the handling of the bike.
